Version 5.8: Instructions for a Clean Install of PI Helper.

|
Please print out these
instructions to use as a checklist. (To Print, right-click this
page, and select Print)
Make sure PI Helper is NOT
running.
For users who need to save
their "real" data, start with Step A below. For those new
to the program, and/or those who do not have any real data stored in PI Helper that needs
to be saved, Start with Step B.
Step A: PI
Helper Data backup (for current Users who have "real" data that needs
to be saved.
Make sure the PDATA folder
is backed up to a save folder, say, PDATASave.

Step B:
On your
computer, Search for and delete all
occurrences of the
following files:

Paradox.lck
-
Pdoxusrs.lck
-
Pdoxusrs.net
-
Pdx*.cfg
|
|
|
|
|
|
Step C: Uninstall
of Program
-
Go to your Control Panel and Click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
-
Locate "Corel Applications" in the list, and press the "Change/Remove" button.
-
For the first screen press, "Next".
-
The next screen should show PI Helper. Click next to the box to select
it.

Continue pressing Next to complete the uninstall.
-
You will be asked to
reset. Do a reset and let the system come back up.

Since files were
created when PIHelper was previously run, the PIHelper folder may still be on the
system. Locate and Delete the PIHelper folder, The default location is: C:\Program
Files\PIHelper

At this point, PI
Helper is completely uninstalled (and for current users, your PDATA folder is saved.)

Step D: Reinstall of Program
-
On your system, you may still have the
PIHelp58. folder, which contains the Install module.
-
See if you can locate the PIHelp58 folder. If so, go into it, and
double-click the Setup32.exe file. This will start the install process.

If you cannot find
the PIHelp58 folder, the try and locate the downloaded exe file, PIHelp58.exe.
-
If you can located
the
PIHelp58.exe file, then double-click it to start the install process.

If needed, download
the PI Helper program from the web site (as a new user).
-
Do the install as normally and go through a reset
cycle.

Go into the program one time and then
exit PI Helper.
If you are a new
or current user, at this point the program has been successfully
reinstalled.

Go to our
web site and downloaded any new patches since the V5.8 release. Follow the instructions at the web site.

For Users
who need to restore their saved data (the PDATA folder,) proceed to
the
next step, Step E.

Step E: Restore
the PDATA folder (your data tables)
-
Locate and delete the
new PData folder. The default location is: C:\Program Files\PIHelper\Pdata
-
Locate the "saved" PData folder.
This is the folder with your "real" data.
-
Copy the saved
PData folder, and paste it to the C:\Program
Files\PIHelper folder. (This will replace the Pdata folder from
step 1 above.)

Start PI Helper
and verify that your data is loaded correctly.
